On the subject of climate change abatement, the absence of rational analysis and the willful ignorance of facts is counterproductive. Rather than promoting a feasible approach to dealing with climate change, the magnitude of which remains uncertain, the focus is on unfeasible approaches and unachievable goals.
The protesters have now organized into self-directed teams ranging from a handful to a couple of dozen youths. Government measures economic activities that can be tracked, counted, and ranked based on dollar values and production totals, and reports them as having value. But there is an enormous amount of human effort that goes to activities that produce well-being and cannot be measured in this way.
Dishwashers, cars and gas cans are three examples of products made worse by bureaucrats. There are plenty of other examples: toilets that don’t flush, showerheads that don’t allow sufficient water flow, and other modern product failures, all courtesy of the nanny state.
